Default amber dash light

I have owned my 01 tahoe for just about a year. its got a Whipple on it. Amazing.

I recently put in a double din screen in the dash and thought I better figure out what the aftermarket amber light in the dash is for. I knew it was something s/c related, but wasn't ever concerned. It only comes on when u turn on the key, goes off once started. Also is there any kind of info I can get from it if-when it does flash?

Also, when I re-install it, any nice ideas for locations, or different lights? I saw one where it was in the cluster where the trans temp goes, but I have escalade gauges with the trans gauge.

Thanks in advance...

Well i am guessing it is to tell me if my engine loses its charging system? The only time it lights up is when the key is on and the vehicle is not running.

I guess I will look for a nice place to put it now.

Default

It serves two functions: (if memory serves me right)
- it will come on if the pyrometer sensor in the exhaust overheats
- it will flash codes if the auxiliary EFI computer faults out

I've also seen that light glow faintly if the auxiliary injector computer fails
