Default Whipplecharged 2004 GTO

This is a 2.3L on a basically stock 5.7L LS1, except for headers. The current version has a Forged 408 LQ9 block with AFR 225 heads and a custom FTI blower cam. No video, because I'm still finishing the overly complicated fuel system.

Mr. Admin, Vbulletin allows youtube tube tags to be used, which lets us insert videos pretty painlessly without have to open a new page.

Thanks for sharing the vid with us Mike. God I love that sound. Can't wait to see more of the new setup. What type of fuel system are you working on?

I'll also speak to Jonas about the youtube tags. We've got a bunch of upgrades we're doing to the site this week so I'll see if we can get that ironed out as well.

Thanks, Jared

Nice! I like the cogged overdrive ratio step-up you have there.
Nothing beats a first-time passenger's first impressions... hah

I'm running a Mallory 160 GPH pump, which is kind of like a Weldon. It's not an inline style, so it doesn't use the fuel to cool the motor, so avoids unnecessary fuel heating.
This is powered from a PWM controller to vary the speed. The input of the controller is two vacuum / pressure switches and a pair of 10 turn pots. There will be one speed for idle / light cruise, another for medium demand, then at 1Lb boost, it runs full power to the pump.
This way, I'm able to use the 3/8 OEM fuel line as a return without overwhelming it at low demand and avoid needless churning of the fuel. A side project is to develop a continuously variable control circuit run from a 2 bar MAP sensor, but it's going to require a good bit of work.

Stock diff. 346 gearing. I'm going to build up another diff on the side using a truetrack. The stock M80's aren't very sturdy.

Yeah, the centers are pretty crappy.

There is a mob over here that do a 9" conversion with billet shafts the whole bit. But freakin expensive!!! The truetrac would be the way to go.

I'm undecided on how I want to go with my rear end. I'm just thinking I'll do a four link live axle conversion with a Watts linkage setup. easy for me to do and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than going the whole 9 yards on the standard diff. Only problem is vertical clearance for the housing. But that can be overcome.

I'm not ready to surrender to a solid axle. I've got some BMR stubs and halfshafts and a better driveshaft waiting in the wings, although the rubber donuts are probably why I haven't broken the rear. For me the charm of the GTO / Monaro is as a luxury GT with a lot of refinement. I'll keep it civilized, and for a dragster, I've always had a soft spot for a 71 Monte Carlo or a 67 Nova.
