The W140ax is definitely not as loud as previous designs but really doesn't mean much as the performance of the new design has improved quite a bit. The newer rotor profile and coating allows the blower to create the same amount of power at lower rpm's than it used to. This means you have more power there if you need it.
10psi is also barely scratching the surface of that blower. That's how they come from the factory. Turn the boost up and I'm sure it will start to become more noticeable.
We've got customers all over the world with these blowers some of which are turning them to 20psi. You can be sure at those levels you can hear the blower.
