Default 08 HO Supercharger Belt problem

Hi All it seems that belt tension or rather getting enough tension on the belt is critical. Just finished the 550 Hp Supercharger install on my 08 Mustang GT. Everything went well no leaks no problems at all until I drove up the street and the belt self destructed. One groove came off. The belt seemed tight enough I guess I was wrong. Any suggestions on determining if belt tension is correct rather than the destruct method. The other problem is availability of the belts I live in south Fl a long way from California. Are the any sources for belts on the East Coast?
Regards 08Ho Mustang

I`m not to familiar with your system but i know i went through quite a few belts before i got the compressor alignment just right, i even had to shim one of the pulleys to keep it from shreading a rib or two off... I however don`t have the convienient "alignment tool" that comes in the kits, i just had to eye ball it and start somewere..lol

I would double check your alignment according to the instructions and make sure all the pulleys line up and are in good condition. you can easy get belts at any auto store, they are designated by number of ribs and total length in inches. that should be all the info you need for the partsperson to find you one.

Thanks for the info it looks like the belt was not on properly on he ac compressor and the result was instant shred. If it is not on properly it won't self center.
